Rupee's Fall Continues.

Rupee reached an all time low at 53.52 per US$ early in the day. But in afternoon it recovered somewhat at 53.28. The demand for dollar from banks and importers are getting strong and capital outflows from foreign funds are increasing. The euro has also weakened as the confidence in Europe staggers. The $ seems to be on a recovery ride. Rupee has been Asia's worst performing currency this year and the outlook still remains bearish. The trade deficit for Indian for the fiscal year ending March 2012 is expected to widen to $155-160 billion. The previous fiscal year the deficit was $104.4.This situation might further weaken the rupee.

webOS To Go Open Source

In a recent press release newly appointed CEO of HP Meg Whitman announced that webOS software will be made open source so as to leverage the interest of developers to improve the mobile operating system.
webOS, a mobile operating system based on Linux kernel seems to be loosing its allure. This move is an effort to reinvent webOS. webOS was developed by Palm and has featured on smartphones as well as Tablets. HP bought Palm for $1.2 billion in April 2010. Speculations are that the development of webOS will now be geared towards Tablets.

Total Lunar Eclipse

Total lunar eclipse happening today is the last total lunar eclipse to happen until 2014. It will be best visible from Australia, Asia and North America.

It will start at 11:33 GMT and end at 17:30 GMT. The total eclipse lasting 51 minutes and 8 seconds. This is the second total lunar eclipse this year, the first one had occurred in June.

Radioactive Caesium found in Milk Powder in Japan

The much feared nuclear contamination issue in Japan gained further traction recently when Radioactive Caesium was found in milk powder made by Meiji Holdings Co. unit.

Yes, it is very horrifying news to hear. And it must be noted that Caesium levels of up to 31 becuerels per kilogram have been found in the milk by the Meiji Corporation. But it is still within limits because the government of Japan has set allowable limit to 200 becquerels per kilogram. But still this news should ring loud bells since babies are more susceptible to the harmful effects of radiation.

The company is recalling 400,00 cans of the affected products. The products were made at a factory in Saitama prefecture, 200 kilometers southwest of the Fukushima plant, between March 14 and March 20. The raw milk had been produced before March 11 disaster and the water used in the production process has no contamination. The Meiji Co. suspects that the hot air used in the drying process may have been contaminated with caesium by the meltdown at the Fukushima Nuclear Plant.

Worries about radiation contamination of food does not seem to subside and now it has become real. Cases of excessive radiation in vegetable, milk, seafood and water have stirred public debates despite the assurance by public officials that the contamination levels are not dangerous.

AMR Corp files for Bankruptcy


The only Major US Airlines which had until now avoided the bankruptcy badge has also given in. American Airlines and its parent company AMR Corp filed for Chapter 11 reorganization in federal bankruptcy court on Tuesday.Other major US Airlines like Delta, United, Continental and US Airways have already gone through the Chapter 11 "reorganizations".

In its bankruptcy filing, AMR said its cost-cutting in recent years had been insufficient and that it could not continue without changing its "uncompetitive cost structure." American airlines has the industry's highest labor costs. The fuel prices are also rising and travel demand are on the descending trend.

Shares of AMR have plummeted 45 % since the end of September '11. And last week the shares hit their lowest since 2003.

Rupee Is Depreciating



To the dismay of most Indians citizens, Rupee keeps depreciating. It closed at 57.73 against the US Dollar, nearly 20% higher compared to the levels around 44 in early August 2011. Rupee has weakened by almost 16% in the last 4 months. Because of this depreciation, the imports have become costlier while exports cheaper. Others who feel its significant effect are the Indian Students studying in US. Their monetary load has increased.  Some students are planning to squeeze the credits in fewer semesters, in three semesters instead of four. The loans have also increased in burden. And personally I too am very much alarmed at this increased pressure on US bound students from India. The international fees in the US Universities are very high in the first place itself.
This depreciation is also having positive effects in some places like the IT Industry (which also seems as a kind of export, ain't it?).
Every Rs 1 increase in the rupee to dollar rate leads to an increase of around 3.5% in earnings for Infosys Ltd (a leading Indian IT Firm). But the increase in earnings are not so high in case of other firms like Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. I hope the Rupee returns back to its normal rate soon but that does not look very likely.

Elizabethtown

A nice movie. I watched 'Elizabeth Town (2005)' last night. It felt like I needed to watch this movie. It stars Orlando Bloom and Kristen Dunst. The direction by Cameron Crowe is fluid and realistic.
Its a drama movie which is worth watching. The music is also perfect. The protagonist Orlando Bloom as Drew Baylor has just failed a massive project at Shoe Company which results in loss to the tune of $972 billion . He is disappointed and really hapless. * Should i tell the story here? Won't it destroy all the fun? If you are reading this, I think you should watch this movie once if haven't watched it already. * Continuing and wrapping up the story i will just say that, not many things happen, BUT 'things do happen' which makes Drew realize 'what being lively is'. Yeah, he does meet 'the girl'. But the significance of the chemistry in this meeting is much more than just romance. Its about being
lively.

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi resigns. Italy is struggling with debt. And Berlusconi with his flamboyant, over the top gaffes had become the least favourite of the Italians. Earlier this week the Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou had relinquished to make for the new coalition government headed by the a technocratic economist, Lucas Papademos. We all know that Greece is under a huge debt load.
 At the end of this week, Spain's ruling Socialist party is likely to be routed in an election. Some authors are comparing this domino effect in the European Union to the Arab uprisings in the Middle East which ousted leaders and was inflamed by revolts. But as for now, Europe is indeed in crisis, and the revolts do not seem a immediately useful here.

Yeah..The District B13 Guy !!


His name is David Belle. He is the guy we saw in the movie District B13 doing some awesome action, jumps and altogether parkour. And I found out just now that I shouldn't have been surprised. He is known as the FOUNDER OF PARKOUR. His gymnastic abilities are awesome. He had military training, gymnastic training and martial arts training.

David Belle was born and raised in Fécamp, France. He descends from a modest family in the suburbs of Paris. His grandfather, father, and brother have been highly skilled rescuers in the French military fire service. In 1990, at the age of 17, Belle left school and moved to Lisses, Paris to begin his national service . In this time he obtained his French national First Aid certificate and UFOLEP certificate of gymnastics leadership. He made close friends with a group of teenagers with a similar physical passion, who later became the Yamakasi (Yann Hnautra, Frédéric Hnautra, David Balgogne, Sébastien Foucan and Kazuma). After joining the fire brigade with aspirations of following in his father's and grandfather's footsteps, he was temporarily discharged due to a wrist injury and did not return for personal reasons.
He later joined the Troupes de marine in Vannes, where he received a promotion, a gymnastic agility certificate of honour, and champion records for Regimental rope-climbing (which his father had once held) and the Essonne obstacle course. He has however said that his taste and love for adventure and freedom did not go well with the regimented life of the military.
Upon completing his national service, he worked in various professions including a warehouse worker, security guard and furniture salesman. He then flew to India and obtained a Black Belt in Kung Fu. 

After his return he began promoting his discipline by filming footage of his capabilities. In 1997 the Stage 2 team (Francis Marroto, Pierre Sled and Pierre Salviac, Georges Kanellitsas) were shown a video and decided to create a film about Belle and parkour, in a series of his collaborations with 'the speed-air man', 'catmen', 'la Relève' and 'les traceurs'.

Belle was first introduced to his acting career in a meeting with Hubert Koundé (La Haine), in order to discuss the success of parkour on the big screen. He then began developing his acting ability with the play Pygmalion, and has since been successful in obtaining a number of roles mostly in French films and promotions.

 Belle has been featured in promotional videos for Tina Turner, and Iam. He has starred in "Les gens du voyages" and "Un monde meilleur", followed by "L'Engrenages" and "Femme Fatale", as well as "Les rivières pourpres 2", starring Jean Reno. After filming several more advertisements and promotions for the BBC, Nissan, Canon, and Nike, Belle was contacted by Luc Besson (director of Nikita, and The Fifth Element) regarding co-starring as lead actor with Cyril Raffaelli in the action movie District B13(more), followed by the sequel District 13: Ultimatum(more).

David Belle says ..."All these people here, they come and they want me to do big things, expect me to do big drops so they can sell pictures, put it on their websites, whatever. But what is my motivation then? I could do this jump once and maybe get hurt, but even if I don't get hurt what is the point right here, right now? To make these people happy? If my family was over there and needed me, I wouldn't even hesitate. I would do it for them and thats who I train and do these things for. I'm not a monkey, I can't be treated like one. I don't understand how people want to put themselves into great risk for money. I've trained so long and hard for myself, to save people, to protect my family... People get into Parkour now just train in order to do risks for media, I just can't understand why they would do so. That was never the goal of Parkour. Money changes people, but that money cannot change my goal, my motivation or why I do this. I'm on tour now for you, I'm here talking to you so you can help others and that's how things work, never think it's the other way around. I'm doing this for you guys, to inspire you, that's it"

WikiLeaks Assange's Extradition Appeal Rejected By British High Court

The British High Court ruled that Julian Assange, founder of WikiLeaks has to be extradited to Sweden to face the rape claims (two sexual assault cases). Eleven months ago Assange was arrested in London. Since the WikiLeaks started its publishing, it has been unmistakably the target of media and all major governments. Assange is claiming these sexual assaults charges to be a politically motivated one and he says that the sex was consensual.

The alleged misconduct was revealed as WikiLeaks was being condemned by the U.S authorities for posting thousands of classified diplomatic and military communications.

WikiLeaks is really facing the grunge music as its operations have been financially disabled. Visa Europe Ltd., Master Card Inc., American Express Co. and eBay Inc's PayPal have halted payments to the site.
Some people have a problem if you start caring about them. They want me to be a friend and they want me 'not to care about them'. i find that to be a dilemma. i can't do this. If i will be your friend, i WILL care about you and if i do not care about you, that is possible if and only if we have ceased to be real friends.
i watched "Midnight in Paris" last night. The movie is a treat, a real treat.

Thailand Floods


Thailand is facing it worst floods since 1942. Bangkok's river Chao Phraya continues to swell to a record height as it swamps nearby tourist spots including the Grand Palace. Thousands of Bangkok residents are leaving the Capital. The Bank Of Thailand has lowered economic forecasts as floods increase the odds for rate cuts. The floods are adversely affecting the agricultural and industrial sectors. Exports, consumption and private investments are expected to slow down at least for now. Also Thailand being a manufacturing center for many Manufacturing Giants, the production of such organisations,like Samsung electronics and hard disk manufacturers like Seagate and Western Digital are affected.

Another major setback for Thai Economy is the effect on Tourism Sector.Tourism contributes to 7% of the country's GDP. Due to the floods, millions of tourists are cancelling their plans and the country may miss its target of 19 million tourist arrivals this year.

Types Of Microphones

1) Carbon Dust Based Microphones
These are the first kind of microphones. It uses Carbon Dust. The Carbon Dust has thin metal or plastic diaphragm on on its sides. As the sound waves compress the diaphragm, the carbon dust is pressed and the electrical resistance changes which in turn changes the current flowing across the carbon dust and thus the sound signal is encoded as electrical signal.


2) Dynamic Type Microphones
Herein the diaphragm is attached to a magnet or coil. As the sound waves moves the magnet/coil the electromagnetic field changes and thus the change in flux induces an electric current. And in this way the sound signal is converted to electrical signal


3) Ribbon Based Microphones 


Here the sound waves move the ribbon which is suspended in a magnetic field. So the current flowing through the ribbon changes and the sound signal is thus turned into variations in electric current flowing across the ribbon


4) Condenser Microphones
It is essentially a capacitor whose one plate is free to move in accordance with the (pressure from) the sound waves. This movement changes the capacitance of the capacitor which is further amplified to create a measurable electric signal.


5) Crystal Based Microphones
We know that the electrical property of crystal change a their shape changes. In these kind of microphones the diaphragm is attached to crystal whose shape changes with the variation in sound waves and thus the electrical property of the crystal varies as a function of sound signal, thus providing a method to convert acoustic signals into electric signal

69.67%  of Linux have Georgia installed (if this doesnt seem good, see the results for other fonts, Times New Roman is found 69.92% which is also not considerably higher given the lower readability of Times New Roman)

3) Georgia has the flow of serif fonts and hence it is good for printed medium and also it is very good for onscreen reading (the yearning for onscreen clarity was the mother of its invention).

4) At the same point size, Georgia appears larger than Times New Roman, so you’ll want to set the font size a point or two smaller. Just don’t go below 9 points.

Deadly Earthquake 7.2 Strikes Turkey, 1000 feared dead



On Sunday, a 7.2 Scale Earthquake struck the Van province in Turkey. The seismological institute is estimating up to 1,000 people could lie dead under the rubble of dozens of collapsed buildings.

Headphones while exercising can be dangerous!!

Listening to music through headphones while exercising can be dangerous. Blood may be diverted from the ears to the limbs leaving the inner ear more vulnerable to damage from loud sound.[18] A Finnish study[19] recommended that exercisers should set their headphone volumes to half of their normal loudness and only use them for a half hour.[18]
