AMR Corp files for Bankruptcy

The only Major US Airlines which had until now avoided the bankruptcy badge has also given in. American Airlines and its parent company AMR Corp filed for Chapter 11 reorganization in federal bankruptcy court on Tuesday.Other major US Airlines like Delta, United, Continental and US Airways have already gone through the Chapter 11 "reorganizations".

In its bankruptcy filing, AMR said its cost-cutting in recent years had been insufficient and that it could not continue without changing its "uncompetitive cost structure." American airlines has the industry's highest labor costs. The fuel prices are also rising and travel demand are on the descending trend.

Shares of AMR have plummeted 45 % since the end of September '11. And last week the shares hit their lowest since 2003.

So all there is for adult life is you, following your nose, trying to figure out what brings you joy. Each time I see someone who has done that, in some little way, I feel relief and hope for myself.  ....  excerpt from an Article By Penelope Trunk

“Every morning in Africa, a Gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning a Lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest Gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn't matter whether you are a Lion or a Gazelle... when the sun comes up, you'd better be running.”

White Screen Of Death

My Cellphone (Nokia 2690) has gone awry. There is a consistent white screen on display. Perhaps it is a display problem, or a boot problem. So the Murphy's Law strikes me once again, and in quite a concerned juncture of time. I have lost most of my contacts.

Rupee Is Depreciating

To the dismay of most Indians citizens, Rupee keeps depreciating. It closed at 57.73 against the US Dollar, nearly 20% higher compared to the levels around 44 in early August 2011. Rupee has weakened by almost 16% in the last 4 months. Because of this depreciation, the imports have become costlier while exports cheaper. Others who feel its significant effect are the Indian Students studying in US. Their monetary load has increased.  Some students are planning to squeeze the credits in fewer semesters, in three semesters instead of four. The loans have also increased in burden. And personally I too am very much alarmed at this increased pressure on US bound students from India. The international fees in the US Universities are very high in the first place itself.
This depreciation is also having positive effects in some places like the IT Industry (which also seems as a kind of export, ain't it?).
Every Rs 1 increase in the rupee to dollar rate leads to an increase of around 3.5% in earnings for Infosys Ltd (a leading Indian IT Firm). But the increase in earnings are not so high in case of other firms like Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. I hope the Rupee returns back to its normal rate soon but that does not look very likely.

Sleep Phones

Listening to music while sleeping is very soothing, ain't it? But the headset doesn't always allow this comfortably. You can use earphones or in-ear headphones, but none of these would be as comfortable as 'the sleep-phones'.
Here you will find the perfect sleep phone?

Ram Jam

Today i came across the music of an American Rock band of 1970's called "Ram Jam". They were best known for their 1977 Top 20 hit "Black Betty". The band comprised of Bill Barlett (guitar), Pete Charles (drums), Myke Scavone (lead singer), and Howie Arthur Blauvet (bass).
"Black Betty" is typical 70's music. Enjoy 'the Rock'.

Elizabethtown

A nice movie. I watched 'Elizabeth Town (2005)' last night. It felt like I needed to watch this movie. It stars Orlando Bloom and Kristen Dunst. The direction by Cameron Crowe is fluid and realistic.
Its a drama movie which is worth watching. The music is also perfect. The protagonist Orlando Bloom as Drew Baylor has just failed a massive project at Shoe Company which results in loss to the tune of $972 billion . He is disappointed and really hapless. * Should i tell the story here? Won't it destroy all the fun? If you are reading this, I think you should watch this movie once if haven't watched it already. * Continuing and wrapping up the story i will just say that, not many things happen, BUT 'things do happen' which makes Drew realize 'what being lively is'. Yeah, he does meet 'the girl'. But the significance of the chemistry in this meeting is much more than just romance. Its about being
lively.

On Friendship

                                            -------  Kahlil Gibran
Your friend is your needs answered.
He is your field which you sow with love and reap with thanksgiving.
And he is your board and your fireside.
For you come to him with your hunger, and you seek him for peace.

When your friend speaks his mind you fear not the "nay" in your own mind, nor do you withhold the "ay."
And when he is silent your heart ceases not to listen to his heart;
For without words, in friendship, all thoughts, all desires, all expectations are born and shared, with joy that is unacclaimed.
When you part from your friend, you grieve not;
For that which you love most in him may be clearer in his absence, as the mountain to the climber is clearer from the plain.
And let there be no purpose in friendship save the deepening of the spirit.
For love that seeks aught but the disclosure of its own mystery is not love but a net cast forth: and only the unprofitable is caught.

And let your best be for your friend.
If he must know the ebb of your tide, let him know its flood also.
For what is your friend that you should seek him with hours to kill?
Seek him always with hours to live.
For it is his to fill your need, but not your emptiness.
And in the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures.
For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.

The Perfect Chop Suey

Chop Suey is a stir-fried dish which can include a variety of meat and vegetables in a cornstarch thickened sauce. While allegedly from the Guangdong Province, chop suey is widely believed to have originated in the US during construction of the Transcontinental Railway. Whatever Chop Suey’s origin, it’s become synonymous with American Chinese food.

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi resigns. Italy is struggling with debt. And Berlusconi with his flamboyant, over the top gaffes had become the least favourite of the Italians. Earlier this week the Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou had relinquished to make for the new coalition government headed by the a technocratic economist, Lucas Papademos. We all know that Greece is under a huge debt load.
At the end of this week, Spain's ruling Socialist party is likely to be routed in an election. Some authors are comparing this domino effect in the European Union to the Arab uprisings in the Middle East which ousted leaders and was inflamed by revolts. But as for now, Europe is indeed in crisis, and the revolts do not seem a immediately useful here.

"Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?"
"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to," said the Cat.
"I don’t much care where--" said Alice.
"Then it doesn’t matter which way you go," said the Cat.
"--so long as I get SOMEWHERE," Alice added as an explanation.
"Oh, you’re sure to do that," said the Cat, "if you only walk long enough."

Yeah..The District B13 Guy !!

His name is David Belle. He is the guy we saw in the movie District B13 doing some awesome action, jumps and altogether parkour. And I found out just now that I shouldn't have been surprised. He is known as the FOUNDER OF PARKOUR. His gymnastic abilities are awesome. He had military training, gymnastic training and martial arts training.

David Belle was born and raised in Fécamp, France. He descends from a modest family in the suburbs of Paris. His grandfather, father, and brother have been highly skilled rescuers in the French military fire service. In 1990, at the age of 17, Belle left school and moved to Lisses, Paris to begin his national service . In this time he obtained his French national First Aid certificate and UFOLEP certificate of gymnastics leadership. He made close friends with a group of teenagers with a similar physical passion, who later became the Yamakasi (Yann Hnautra, Frédéric Hnautra, David Balgogne, Sébastien Foucan and Kazuma). After joining the fire brigade with aspirations of following in his father's and grandfather's footsteps, he was temporarily discharged due to a wrist injury and did not return for personal reasons.
He later joined the Troupes de marine in Vannes, where he received a promotion, a gymnastic agility certificate of honour, and champion records for Regimental rope-climbing (which his father had once held) and the Essonne obstacle course. He has however said that his taste and love for adventure and freedom did not go well with the regimented life of the military.
Upon completing his national service, he worked in various professions including a warehouse worker, security guard and furniture salesman. He then flew to India and obtained a Black Belt in Kung Fu.

After his return he began promoting his discipline by filming footage of his capabilities. In 1997 the Stage 2 team (Francis Marroto, Pierre Sled and Pierre Salviac, Georges Kanellitsas) were shown a video and decided to create a film about Belle and parkour, in a series of his collaborations with 'the speed-air man', 'catmen', 'la Relève' and 'les traceurs'.

Belle was first introduced to his acting career in a meeting with Hubert Koundé (La Haine), in order to discuss the success of parkour on the big screen. He then began developing his acting ability with the play Pygmalion, and has since been successful in obtaining a number of roles mostly in French films and promotions.

Belle has been featured in promotional videos for Tina Turner, and Iam. He has starred in "Les gens du voyages" and "Un monde meilleur", followed by "L'Engrenages" and "Femme Fatale", as well as "Les rivières pourpres 2", starring Jean Reno. After filming several more advertisements and promotions for the BBC, Nissan, Canon, and Nike, Belle was contacted by Luc Besson (director of Nikita, and The Fifth Element) regarding co-starring as lead actor with Cyril Raffaelli in the action movie District B13(more), followed by the sequel District 13: Ultimatum(more).

Watch his real life action here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x98jCBnWO8w

David Belle says ..."All these people here, they come and they want me to do big things, expect me to do big drops so they can sell pictures, put it on their websites, whatever. But what is my motivation then? I could do this jump once and maybe get hurt, but even if I don't get hurt what is the point right here, right now? To make these people happy? If my family was over there and needed me, I wouldn't even hesitate. I would do it for them and thats who I train and do these things for. I'm not a monkey, I can't be treated like one. I don't understand how people want to put themselves into great risk for money. I've trained so long and hard for myself, to save people, to protect my family... People get into Parkour now just train in order to do risks for media, I just can't understand why they would do so. That was never the goal of Parkour. Money changes people, but that money cannot change my goal, my motivation or why I do this. I'm on tour now for you, I'm here talking to you so you can help others and that's how things work, never think it's the other way around. I'm doing this for you guys, to inspire you, that's it"

Keep Your Heart in your Pocket

Keep your heart in your pocket
is what I learnt
after the umpteen trysts
and things I watched.

if you keep the heart in chest
it is untamable, unruly
& it throbs irregularly
at silly love interests.

If she once sits by your side
or just looks with the look you know what
the heart pounds hard
And knits fairy-tales around.

Know that, you can’t be careful enough
as your heart can’t be reasoned out.
So, I always say about
Keep your heart in your Pocket.

And its even not uncommon
for the heart to pop out
at her sweet simple potion
which she might brew sometime.

And when your heart is
in her hands.
Mind you, probably she will
drop it, being uncertain.

Uncertain, what to do with
your human heart,
She JUST wants to play around
And so uncertain about the byproduct she found.

That is why I will say
Keep your heart in your pocket.
Perhaps you are thinking about the mind
like ‘I’ll think with my brain.’

Let me say like this my friend,
your brain can’t handle the heart’s helm.
The heart runs its own course
Unaffected by brain or any such cold morose.

So don’t keep your heart in the brain
nor in hands, nor the chest
but keep your heart
Deep Inside Your Pocket.

Chief Joseph's Surrender Speech - October 5th, 1877

"Tell General Howard I know his heart. What he told me before, I have it in my heart. I am tired of fighting. Our chiefs are killed; Looking Glass is dead, Too-hul-hul-sote is dead. The old men are all dead. It is the young men who say yes or no. He who led on the young men is dead. It is cold, and we have no blankets; the little children are freezing to death. My people, some of them, have run away to the hills, and have no blankets, no food. No one knows where they are, perhaps freezing to death. I want to have time to look for my children, and see how many of them I can find. Maybe I shall find them among the dead. Hear me, my chiefs! I am tired; my heart is sick and sad. From where the sun now stands, I will fight no more forever."

WikiLeaks Assange's Extradition Appeal Rejected By British High Court

The British High Court ruled that Julian Assange, founder of WikiLeaks has to be extradited to Sweden to face the rape claims (two sexual assault cases). Eleven months ago Assange was arrested in London. Since the WikiLeaks started its publishing, it has been unmistakably the target of media and all major governments. Assange is claiming these sexual assaults charges to be a politically motivated one and he says that the sex was consensual.

The alleged misconduct was revealed as WikiLeaks was being condemned by the U.S authorities for posting thousands of classified diplomatic and military communications.

WikiLeaks is really facing the grunge music as its operations have been financially disabled. Visa Europe Ltd., Master Card Inc., American Express Co. and eBay Inc's PayPal have halted payments to the site.
Some people have a problem if you start caring about them. They want me to be a friend and they want me 'not to care about them'. i find that to be a dilemma. i can't do this. If i will be your friend, i WILL care about you and if i do not care about you, that is possible if and only if we have ceased to be real friends.
i watched "Midnight in Paris" last night. The movie is a treat, a real treat.
